HTC Desire - Read Complete Review - Desire Of Millions

Launched in March, 2010, the latest HTC Desire phone is a real iPhone beater with so many impressive features and applications. This is in fact is one of the most powerful Android devices on offer. It reacts with your slight touch and allows to open multiple applications in a jiffy. The 3.7 screen of high resolution is among the best in the business. Typing is child's play with its larger keypad. You can flip the phone into even landscape mode to open the its keypad. Many regard it a version of Nexus S as it looks ver much the same, has the similar screen and CPU, but there are some differences as well.

Display & Design:
It has been lavishly designed with a beautiful casing with a dark brown colored matt finish. It measures 11.9cm tall x 6cm wide bx 1.19cm deep with 135 grams of weight. This is a pocket-sized gadget that fits well into your hands. It comes adorned with a large 3.7 inches AMOLED capacitive screen displaying 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels to offer better view of pictures and videos on its display. Below the screen there are four buttons- Home, Menu, Back and Search. In the middle, there is an optical track-pad. The whole of the back comes equipped with 5 megapixels camera, battery, SIM card slot and microSD card slot.

Web Browsing Capabilities:
Just like iPhone, the Desire is also build on the WebKit framework, but beats Apple iPhone in almost every area of web browsing on the move. There are not just multi-touch pinch and zoom, cut & paste and text resizing features, but it also features Flash video on board, something that Apple will hardly be to provide on board. It has got industry-leading web browser to offer users fast access to internet.

Zoom functionality is better than the one in iPhone and you can zoom in on words from web pages as much as you wish. Whether via Wi-Fi or 3G, the browser of the device will be able to to stream through web loading even complex sites at a faster speed. So, web performance is much impressive and similar that of HTC Legend- another powerful Android-based gadget from Taiwanese giant HTC.

Contacts & messaging
Much like Hero and Legend, HTC has done quite well by adding power to contacts screen and you can link your friends on your phone to their profiles on Facebook. The phone-book sounds very useful with vast contacts storage allowing users to add, edit or delete contacts when required. The messaging with multiple options of SMS, MMS, Gmail etc. looks great on HTC Desire. With help of its larger screen, you can easily type mails or messages using its virtual keypad. Instant messaging service is also available which is online messaging service that can be shared currently with those available online. Since a smart-phone is not complete without email, the handset has been equipped with quick emailing.

Imaging & Multimedia Entertainment:
The handset comes with a 5 megapixel digital camera featuring a range of image-enhancing options such as automatic focus, LED flash, face detection setting and geo tagging feature. The camera can be used for both still and moving video footage depending on the needs of a user. Thus, camera is perhaps the best we have seen from cheap HTC mobile phones. The Desire blends with brilliant talents of Legend and Nexus One in terms of social networking, imaging and browsing capabilities. The video recorder can shoot movies at up to 800x480 resolution with perfect clarity. Gaming on this smart-phone provides you an amazing experience with clear and colorful graphics on screen. Apart from all this, advanced audio-video players along with FM radio with recording capability are big advantages of availing this gadget.

Storage & Battery:
Using the Desire, you can store as much data as you can. Well, it is really possible using its mammoth storage capacity. Internally, it provides with 576 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM, while it also has microSD card slot to increase this memory further upto 32GB. All this means, users of this mobile phone can store or download a huge amount of data like games, videos, movies, wallpapers, music and other interesting stuff.

The only thing it lacks is the powerful back-up in its battery. Sadly, the battery though not very bad, but does not come up to expectations of handset lovers. Overall, it is a very handy Android device running Android OS (Eclair) which is upgradable to version 2.2. With its powerful 1 GHz Scorpion processor, it promises faster performance than iPhone.

Strength:
  • Brilliant AMOLED display of 3.7 inches
  • Great performance with advanced Android operating system & 1GHz processor
  • Uses HTC's sense UI
Weaknesses:
  • Battery life is not powerful enough
  • Multiple Exchange email support could have been there

Conclusion:
Overall, the best seller HTC Desire contract deals looks impressive on almost each and every aspect. Not only it combines high end hardware features with Android, but also sports catchy looks and superb design. Though it does not have the noise-canceling call quality of the Nexus One, but ensures good call quality and you will never face call disconnection problems. I faced no call disconnection even in the low network coverage areas. Above all, this smart-phone beats iPhone 3GS on each and every front. This has been awarded as the ' best phone of the year' in 2010 and still remains best seller in the market.
