Rim Announced BlackBerry PlayBook Will Run Android 2.3 Apps

The rumours regarding the devices crafted by BlackBerry would run on Android applications seem to be true. Well, they are true but partially. RIM informed that users of its BlackBerry PlayBook tablet in the mobile market will be able to install Android 2.3 and BlackBerry Java applications on their device. We can't expect to get all the 200,000 Android applications for the Blackberry Playbook from the very first day because at first developers of the applications will have to submit their apps to the RIM's BlackBerry App World in the normal way.

Chief Executive Officer of RIM Mike Lazaridis said that the forthcoming inclusion of BlackBerry Java and Android apps for the BlackBerry PlayBook on BlackBerry App World will offer our users with a wide variety of greater choice of apps and will also display the dynamism of the platform. As it was predicted by the earlier rumours, using a pair of 'app players' both the Android and Java applications were taken up by RIM. An application run-time environment is also provided by these app players. RIM will display the 'app players' at its BlackBerry World conference scheduled to be held early in the month of May.

It is reported that until summer these players won't be available in the market and even a few months after the PlayBook goes on sale, it won't be possible to get it. This time of unavailability of the players would at least gives enough time to the developers of Android to test and submit their apps to RIM. At present we have to wait and see that whether the BlackBerry smart phones will get these new app players or indeed when (if ever) Android 3.0 Honeycomb apps will work on the PlayBook.

Meanwhile, RIM is also working hard on its Blackberry Playbook to make the gadget a perfect tablet fit for gaming. RIM has sign a bond with two game engine companies: IdeaWorks Labs and Unity Technologies. These gaming companies will be making their technology available for developers who are looking forward to make PlayBook games.

A higher authority stated that the tablet- BlackBerry Playbook has all the necessary specifications including sharp focus on the multimedia features, very powerful hardware, and fantastic games in the pipeline. With all these features the device is sure to be the mainstream hit in the market.
