The mobile manufacturing brand Sony Ericsson has announced that an upgrade Gingerbread will be incorporated in to its Xperia X10 this summer. Earlier, the manufacturer said that the Android 2.1 upgrade would be the last upgrade that the device would see. However, consumers would interested at the news of its upgradation. Aiming the consumers for Xperia X10, Sony Ericsson said that the new project of updating the Android was possible because of the works that lined up on the the 2011 Xperia including the Play, Arc and Neo.

Though the update is by no means brewing,yet Sony Ericsson is looking forward to roll it out to unlocked handsets by the end of Q2/beginning of Q3 2011. Since the handset was launched in February 2010, it is expected that many Xperia X10 owners might have just reached the ends of their 18-month contracts at the point when the upgrade version will be launched and they might be looking to upgrade their device to the new hardware anyway.
It is reported that handsets which are locked to a network over any of the deals may not be eligible for the software update. Stating this the official blog of Sony Ericsson noted that aiming at the possible customized operators kit they will collect more information on this afterwards. However, the bog mentioned that the company made it very clear at this stage on the fact that some of the customers using the device with any of the network might not get this upgrade.
In the official blog post, Sony Ericsson wrote that its intention is to provide Xperia X10 the similar software and functional capabilities which it has in its new 2011 Xperia smartphones.
It also mentioned that the company aims to provide the gadget all the functionality that is facilitated by the Gingerbread platform, the Sony Ericsson specific UI and specifications that are not restricted by hardware limitations.
It also stated that the work for the final touch of the software updation is still under progress but yet Sony Ericsson is working to minimize the differences.
